Overview: This event is designed for directors of small libraries in Ohio. OLC’s Executive Director Michelle Francis will attend each forum and provide an update on several items of interest, including Public Library Fund (PLF) distributions and forecasts as well as current Intellectual Freedom issues and recent book banning tactics. The forum will also allow time for discussions with your peers about issues and challenges unique to small libraries.

Intended Audience: Small Library Directors

The OLC will host an online discussion forum for youth services staff to ask questions, exchange ideas and share best practices for handling programs and services for the teens in your community. Join members of the Teen Services Division for an informal discussion.

Overview:
The transition to a new management role can be challenging even for experienced and highly-skilled employees. The OLC’s New Directors Workshop Series is created specifically for new and aspiring library directors who want to develop their management skills, confidence and effectiveness. This comprehensive leadership training will cover proven techniques and powerful strategies for success in your new role. The program will be delivered through four workshops; each focusing on a specific area of education. You can attend the entire series or choose the workshop(s) you would like to attend.

Who Should Attend: Library directors with less than three years of experience as a director, interim or acting directors, or library staff with management and/or administrative experience who aspire to become a library director.

What’s Included: Morning coffee, light refreshments and lunch will be provided for those who attend at the OLC office. All handouts, provided by presenters, will be available online through the OLC app. Print them prior to the conference, view them from your personal device during the event or view/download them after the event. Workshop recordings and handouts will be available online for 30 days following the program. Attendees will receive a free digital copy of the OLC publication, Ohio Public Library Administrator’s Handbook.

Continuing Education Credits: For those working toward their Ohio Public Librarian or Ohio Public Library Staff re-certification, this workshop series counts as 20 hours (5 hours per workshop).
