Overview: You can’t predict when a crisis will occur, but you can plan for one. From a natural disaster, to a shooting at a branch, or anger in the community over a library program, a crisis can take many forms.  This webinar will explain how to respond immediately and effectively when there is a crisis situation at your library which is likely to attract attention on social media and/or traditional media. The emphasis of this webinar will be on pragmatic, practical tips and best practices that you can arm yourself with to survive the initial stages of the crisis — and emerge with your library’s reputation intact or even enhanced.

Learning Objectives:
During this webinar, you will learn how to:

• Define and create key messages.
• Avoid the deadly “no comment.”
• Evaluate social media threats and how that assessment helps determine your response.
• Leverage your social media outlets and other tools to reach key stakeholders – the people who care most about you and your library.

Presenter: Thomas J. Fladung, Hennes Communications

Thom Fladung is the managing partner of Hennes Communications which is based in Cleveland. He has more than 33 years of daily newspaper and digital media experience, having served as a top editor at some of the nation’s largest newspapers such as the Cleveland Plain Dealer and the Detroit Free Press. Fladung is an expert at crafting effective, strategic messages on hard deadlines.
