Ohioans Approve Six out of Seven Public Library Levies

On May 2, 2023, voters approved six out of seven public library levies on local ballots around Ohio. The successful library ballot issues included five renewals and one renewal with an increase. The six levies passed by significant margins with an average voter approval rate of 72 percent.

“Ohioans continue to express their support for public libraries at the polls,” said Michelle Francis, Executive Director, Ohio Library Council. “The only loss was extremely close and decided by 121 votes which is further evidence that every vote counts and is critically important. Our state has the highest library use per capita in the nation. Yesterday’s election results show that Ohioans think highly of their libraries and see them as good stewards of their tax dollars.”

The unofficial results are available on the OLC website.
