The pandemic forced the nation to acknowledge an issue public libraries recognized long ago — the digital divide. We know there are still many areas in this state where residents do not have access to reliable high-speed internet. Recent legislation passed at the Ohio Statehouse is meant to address this issue through grants. The state’s new grant program is administered by BroadbandOhio, a division of the Ohio Department of Development.

The OLC is hosting a free webinar on Mon., Oct. 4 at 1:30 p.m. with Peter Voderberg, Chief of BroadbandOhio, on the new grant program. Public libraries are in a unique position to help their local communities bridge the digital divide.
