ORE Online: Reference Training Modules Now Available!

The OLC provides reference education training to improve the quality of reference services at public libraries throughout Ohio. Ohio Reference Excellence (ORE) Online has been completely revised and updated by the Reference and Information Services Division. The all-new website is comprised of six self-paced training modules that cover many aspects of the reference process. The online training is designed for those who are new to library reference as well as those who may need a refresher. Each module includes resource links, exercises and quizzes. ORE Online also includes a section for supervisors that explains how to use the training effectively.

Reference training modules include:

  1. Introduction to the Reference Process
  2. The Reference Interview
  3. Communicating with Patrons
  4. Resource Strategies
  5. Resources
  6. Ethics

Special thanks to the members of the Reference and Information Services Division for their dedication to this project.
