ODT Posts August PLF Distribution

The Ohio Department of Taxation (ODT) has posted the August 2020 PLF distribution of $42,189,054 – which is $11 million (+ 35%) above ODT’s original estimate that was issued in July 2019. The distribution came in at $5.4 million (+ 14.68%) above ODT’s latest estimate that was just issued at the end of June.

This amount reflects the delay in income tax filings from April to July. As reported in previous communications, the OLC expected the losses in May would be made up in the August distribution.

A look at the PLF distribution for the past three years and a link to an Excel spreadsheet listing each county’s distribution total for August 2020 can be found on the OLC website.

While the August distribution is positive, the PLF Calendar Year (CY) 2020 year-to-date total is $265,213,921 which is $9.4 million (- 3.42%) below what OLC was anticipating pre-pandemic.

The Office of Budget and Management (OBM) will release their Monthly Financial Report for August early next week – this will provide more information on the current state of Ohio’s economy and what we can expect for the remainder of the calendar year.
