Help Shape OLC’s Professional Development Conferences in 2020

The OLC is currently seeking members to serve on the planning committees for the three new conferences in 2020. The educational events as well as tentative event dates and proposed locations will include:

    • Service for All – May 2020; Central Ohio.
Focuses on customer service and community engagement topics, including accessibility, diversity and inclusion.

    • Multiple Literacies – June 2020; Southwest Ohio.
Explores ways libraries support all types of literacy, including childhood and adult literacy, digital literacy, financial literacy as well as collection development and readers’ advisory.

    • Innovation – August 2020; Northwest Ohio
Identifies emerging technology, innovative services, process improvements and collaboration in public libraries.

If you have an interest in these areas of library service, please consider serving as a conference chair. Even though it’s 2019, the chairs’ work for the 2020 events will begin soon! The OLC will host an orientation meeting to cover the details of the work that lies ahead, including the appointment of your full committee. Not ready to chair an event? Please consider serving as a committee member. It takes months of planning to create a successful conference, but past chairs and committee members have found it to be a rewarding experience and beneficial to their careers.

If you are interested in being a chair or committee member, contact Lori Hensley, OLC Director of Education and Events, at lhensley@olc.org by July 22.
