OLC Endorses ALA Advocacy Implementation Plan

The OLC Board of Directors, at its meeting on Jan. 22, voted unanimously to endorse the American Library Association’s Advocacy Implementation Plan and supports the effort to move forward the advocacy goals to ensure the success of libraries and the profession across the nation. This action follows the directive in ALA Council Resolution MW16-35 passed at the 2016 Midwinter Meeting. The Advocacy Implementation plan plan is part of the ALA’s Libraries Transform initiative started by ALA President Sari Feldman, Director of the Cuyahoga County Public Library.

The OLC will identify and utilize aspects of the plan that are applicable to the OLC’s advocacy and public awareness efforts. As indicated in the resolution, Ohio’s public libraries also are encouraged to endorse and utilize the plan as appropriate.
