Fifteen libraries around the state will have levy issues on the Nov. 8, 2016 general election ballot. The issues include three new levies, nine renewals, and three renewals with additions. A complete list of libraries with levy issues on the ballot as well as the millages and terms is available.

The OLC offers a one-day workshop to help libraries prepare for ballot initiatives like these. The program covers a variety of issues including:

• determining the need and public support for your library levy;
• defining the millage size and length for your levy;
• developing the campaign message;
• running the mechanics of a library campaign;
• connecting with the media and developing message strategies; and
• coordinating a lawful campaign.
