Get Ready for Legislative Day!

Registration is now open for the OLC’s Legislative Day scheduled for Wed., April 6. The event will kick off at the Sheraton on Capitol Square, 75 E. State Street in Columbus (across the street from the Statehouse). Library leaders and supporters are invited to come to Columbus to meet with members of Ohio’s General Assembly and advocate on behalf of Ohio’s public libraries.

This year, Legislative Day falls within National Library Week. It’s the perfect time to share the essential work your library is doing. Between the two morning general sessions for attendees, there will be a special presentation with Ohio Senate President Pro Tempore Jay Hottinger (R-Newark) and Ohio First Lady Fran DeWine. The Legislative Day agenda is available on the OLC website.

Those attending Legislative Day should plan to watch the Preparing for Legislative Day webinar presented on Mon., March 21, from 1-2 p.m. Jay Smith, OLC’s Director of Government and Legal Services will outline steps to take before Legislative Day, including making appointments with legislators (coordinated through OLC’s Legislative Network) and using the advocacy tools on the OLC website. If you are unable to watch the live presentation, the webinar will be recorded and posted at olc.org/legislative-day.
