Program Submission Opportunities for Vendors

The Ohio Library Council offers a wide range of educational opportunities for its members. The OLC issues a “Call for Programs” when planning most of these events and accepts submissions from vendors as long as the programs are educational rather than promotional. Vendors interested in submitting program ideas for OLC educational events should contact Lori Hensley, OLC Director of Education and Events, at (614) 410-8092, ext.107, or send an email to lhensley@olc.org.

Overview of OLC Educational Events

Chapter Conferences

Chapter Conferences offer opportunities for library staff members to attend training in one of five locations around the state. Programs at the Chapter Conferences include a variety of topics and traditionally focus on skills-based training and attract library director to mid-level library staff members to support staff personnel. Presenters at the OLC Chapter Conferences are usually individuals from within the library community. Chapter Conferences are held in the spring and attract 125 to 350 attendees at each location.

Convention and Expo

The OLC Convention and Expo is a three-day event held each fall. The educational programming includes nationally recognized keynote speakers, a series of learning tracks that focus on different areas of library service, author book signings, and special events, as well as time for attendees to visit vendor booths at the exhibit hall. Presenters at the Convention include a mix of paid speakers and volunteers from the library community. More than 500 library staff members involved in virtually every aspect of library service attend this event.

Workshops and Webinars

Each year the OLC presents a wide array of workshops and webinars featuring topics of interest to public library staff. These programs are presented online, in the OLC’s on-site training room, or in commercial venues in Columbus as well as around the state.
