Publishers Restrict Access to eBooks and eAudiobooks
Over the past year, eBook licensing terms with publishers have shifted in an alarming direction. The OLC is aware of the issue and how these policies severely affect your ability to lend digital content and ensure access for everyone.
Some OLC members have requested a sample message to send to their patrons updating them on the current situation with publishers. The OLC has created a template that you can personalize for your library and share with your patrons if you choose to do so.
The OLC is monitoring the situation and is in regular contact with the ALA and other library associations around the country. The ALA’s eBook page has more information and graphics you can share on social media. OLC will keep you updated as the conversation moves forward.
