Ohio Libraries Hold Events for In-Demand Jobs Week
Many public libraries across the state will be hosting special events May 7-11, 2018 in conjunction with In Demand Jobs Week. These events will give students and job seekers the opportunity to learn more about rewarding jobs and high-demand careers that are available locally. In addition to hosting job fairs, libraries will offer mock interviews, job search assistance, and career counseling.
“Ohio’s public libraries offer a variety of continuous learning and workforce resources to students, job seekers, and employers,” said Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation Director Ryan Burgess. “We’re excited to see so many libraries partnering with local businesses and OhioMeansJobs Centers to connect Ohioans with local jobs.”
More than 200 jobs in Ohio are considered “in demand,” based on labor market information, job postings on OhioMeansJobs.com, JobsOhio regional forecasts and employer forecasts. Ohio’s public libraries play an integral role in the state’s workforce system and are a key source of job and career support for their communities.
“Public libraries across the state are using this week to showcase their job training and education programs and the ways in which they connect Ohio employers with qualified workers,” said Doug Evans, Executive Director of the Ohio Library Council. “As the hub of the community, public libraries can provide specific information about jobs in the area and offer the resources, expertise and guidance to help Ohioans achieve success.”
