OLC Briefs Ohio House State and Local Government Committee

On Feb. 21, the OLC provided an organizational overview before the House Committee on State and Local Government. At the beginning of the legislative session, it is common for certain committees to ask some associations to talk about their role in representing their constituencies.

At the invitation of committee chair Rep. Marlene Anielski  (R-Walton Hills), Michelle Francis, OLC’s Director of Government and Legal Services, talked about the OLC’s role as the voice of Ohio’s public libraries, how it represents the interests of its members, and the essential services that libraries provide to citizens throughout the state.

She noted that the quality and quantity of services provided by Ohio’s public libraries would not be possible without the long-standing support of the Ohio General Assembly and the state funding public libraries receive through the Public Library Fund.
