Institutional

Ohio public libraries are encouraged to become Institutional members of the OLC. In addition, other types of libraries and library-related organizations and agencies may also become Institutional members of the OLC.

Institutional Membership: Ohio Public Libraries

Benefits of OLC Institutional membership for Ohio’s 251 public libraries include:

  • Government relations and lobbying for library funding through the Public Library Fund (PLF).
  • Federal and state advocacy on legislative issues impacting libraries and their patrons.
  • Monthly PLF distribution notices.
  • Access to information on library ballot issues, library construction issues, audit and financial issues.
  • Access to free initial information on public library law.
  • Free Amazon Business Prime Account.
  • Access to Group purchasing programs – Sourcing Alliance.
  • Access to Group insurance coverage for workers’ compensation and health insurance, group term life insurance, voluntary life insurance and long-term care insurance, for libraries and their employees.
  • Workshop registration fees at member rate for all library employees and trustees (does not apply to Convention and Expo and special conferences).
  • Subscription to This Week, OLC’s weekly e-newsletter for directors and fiscal officers of the member libraries.
  • Subscription to Access, OLC’s weekly member e-newsletter.
  • Access to members-only information including news, legislative information, and legal updates.
  • Monitoring of and assistance with intellectual freedom challenges.
  • Workshops for library personnel, trustees, and friends on intellectual freedom issues.
  • Posting of open library positions on the OLC website page at no cost.
  • Trustees of public libraries that are OLC institutional members are entitled to all benefits of individual membership.

All Ohio public libraries are eligible for OLC Institutional membership. Annual Institutional membership dues for public libraries are based upon revenue from the previous year’s Public Library Fund and local property taxes (if applicable).

Institutional Membership: Other

Benefits of OLC Institutional membership for other types of libraries and library-related organizations include:

  • Subscription to Access, OLC’s weekly member e-newsletter.
  • Posting of open library positions on the OLC website page at no cost.
  • Access for library staff and trustees to select professional development workshops at member registration rates.
  • Access to Group purchasing programs – Sourcing Alliance.

Annual Institutional membership dues for other types of libraries and library-related organizations are $275 per year.
