Webinar Overview:
According to Pew Research Center, one out of every five Americans listens to audiobooks. It’s no surprise since audiobooks enable listeners to enjoy their favorite titles while driving, walking, exercising, and more. Have you ever been caught off guard by an audiobook question? Do you know what to recommend for fast-paced “reads” or with superstar narrators that will keep the whole family entertained?

This webinar will cover everything you need to know about audiobooks, including digital audiobook apps, physical audiobook containers, and devices required for use. You’ll also discover resources for finding “sound-alikes” and the next title in the series. Plus, you’ll learn some tips and tricks to make you look like an audiobook wizard!

Presenters:

  • Maggie Rose, Librarian, Twinsburg Public Library
  • Chris Labib, Adult Services Librarian, Kent Free Library

Learning Objective:

  1. Create a list of audiobook advisory resources (including titles for family road trips and non-fiction).
  2. Identify audiobook genres by cover.
  3. Gain a better understanding of the numerous ways audio materials are distributed.
  4. Learn strategies for having conversations with patrons about audiobooks.

Intended Audience: Designed for Adult Services, Reference and Information Services as well as Customer Service and Support Staff.

What’s Included: Participation in the live webinar and/or access to the recorded version at a later date, resources (if applicable) provided by the presenters.
