The Ohio Library Council (OLC) has selected Laurie Miller as its new Director of Professional Development.

Miller currently serves as the Senior Events Manager for the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) and has been on the OSBA staff since 2005. Her broad experience includes working with subject matter experts to develop and execute educational workshops, webinars and virtual events with varying sizes from 25 to 1200 attendees. She typically manages 80-100 events per year, including an annual conference that draws nearly 10,000 attendees.

Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications from Ball State University and is a Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) and Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA). She served as a board member for the Ohio Chapter of the Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and is a member of the Ohio Society of Association Executives (OSAE) and the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).

“Laurie brings a wealth of experience to the OLC team and has a proven track record of providing high-quality educational events both in-person and online,” said Michelle Francis, OLC’s Executive Director. “She shares our vision to grow and expand OLC’s professional development offerings and will be a tremendous asset to OLC and the public library community.”

As Director of Professional Development, Miller will be responsible for planning and managing all of the OLC’s continuing education for public library employees in Ohio. She will join the OLC staff on April 19.
