Call for Nominations: OLC Board of Directors and Ohio’s Councilor to the ALA

In this summer’s annual OLC elections, there will be five positions on the ballot for the OLC Board of Directors: one position requiring an MLIS degree; one position designated for a library trustee; and three At-Large positions. Nominations are currently being accepted for candidates for election to these positions. OLC Board positions are for three years (2022-24) and require attendance at virtual meetings held via Zoom or in-person meetings held at the OLC office in Dublin (Northwest Columbus) six times per year. Meetings are held on the second or third Friday of every other month beginning in January (currently from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.). Mileage expenses to/from the in-person meetings are eligible for reimbursement.

Candidates Also Sought for Ohio’s Councilor to the ALA

The OLC is also accepting nominees for the position of Ohio’s Councilor to the American Library Association (ALA). As the official state Chapter to the ALA, the OLC is responsible for electing the state’s ALA Councilor to represent the interests of Ohio’s public, school, academic and special libraries and their staffs at the national level. The Ohio ALA Councilor term is Jan. 2022- Dec. 2024, during which time the individual must be able to participate in the ALA Midwinter Meetings and Annual Conferences. Any travel expenses related to the duties of Ohio’s ALA Councilor are reimbursed by the OLC. If you are interested in being a candidate for election as Ohio’s ALA Councilor, please submit the online ALA Councilor nomination form by April 23. The OLC Nominations Committee will review and recommend the candidates for the ballot in this summer’s OLC elections.
