The OLC will host a free webinar, Virtual Storytime: Successes and Challenges, on Thurs., July 23 from 2-3:30 p.m. Four Ohio youth services librarians will explain how they used trial and error to conquer the challenge of providing virtual storytime programs to their communities. Topics will include using Facebook LIVE, uploading pre-recorded content to the library’s Facebook page, and/or using YouTube. Plus, you’ll learn more about creative apps that make pre-recording and editing easier.

In addition, the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and the Colorado Libraries for Early Literacy (CLEL) have released a free Virtual Storytime Services Guide to assist libraries in creating high quality and meaningful online experiences for their patrons. As libraries are expanding their digital collections and virtual program offerings, this free guide is offered as a comprehensive resource to support you in this shift to more virtual work. Topics include technology tools, serving diverse children and families, copyright considerations, other types of virtual programs for kids, and resources to support early literacy.
