Advocacy Alert: Urge Congress to Support Federal Library Funding

For a fourth straight year, the White House has proposed the elimination of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and with it virtually all federal library funding. Each year, the library community has responded and the budgets have been restored and even increased. This year will again require a groundswell of support.

The “Dear Appropriator” letters have started to circulate in the U.S. House, asking representatives to preserve federal library funding. Please contact your Congressional representatives and ask them to support federal funding for libraries by co-signing the “Dear Appropriator” letters. The more signatures, the better the chance that the appropriators will be able to protect funding for Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) programs.
