Appointments Committee Names 2019 Conference Chairs

The OLC Professional Development Committee has identified three, subject-specific conferences for 2019. The Appointments Committee of the OLC Board has named the planning committee chairs for these events. The conferences, proposed dates and locations, and planning committee chairs include:

Community Engagement (May 2019; Central Ohio)
Chair: Amber Bertram, Teen and Adult Services Librarian, Toledo-Lucas Co. Public Library
The event will explore ways libraries can reach out to local agencies and organizations to create unique and lasting partnerships that will strengthen their community as a whole.

Library Facilities Management (July 2019; Central Ohio)
Chair: Travis Bautz, Director, MidPointe Library System
The conference will identify ways library buildings can be maintained, updated, and created to serve the needs of library patrons.

Library Safety and Security (March 2019; Northeast and Southwest Ohio)
Chair: TBA
This conference will spotlight ways administration and staff can keep each other, their patrons, and their libraries safe. [Note: This conference will include two identical events in two separate locations approximately one week apart.]

In addition, next year the OLC will initiate a long-term project that will include the creation of On-Demand/Self-Directed Online Education that will address a specific topic of interest to OLC members. Maria Fesz will chair the project planning committee. She is a former librarian with Westlake Porter Public Library and is now with OverDrive working in collection development.

If you would like to assist with the planning of any of these activities, please send an e-mail to Lori Hensley, OLC Director of Education and Events, at lhensley@olc.org.
