Intellectual Freedom Committee Seeks Your Help in Reporting Incidents of Censorship

The OLC’s Intellectual Freedom Committee needs your help in reporting censorship incidents at your library. The ALA’s Office for Intellectual Freedom (OIF) is seeking information on censorship challenges that occurred between Jan. 1 – Dec. 31, 2017. Please take a few minutes to report any challenges that your library has encountered in 2017 to the ALA online challenge reporting form before Jan. 31, 2018. The OIF wrote a blog post about the importance of reporting challenges and answers commonly asked questions.

The OLC’s Intellectual Freedom Committee also seeks your feedback on censorship issues and asks that you complete a quick survey (five, short questions) that will guide the Committee’s efforts in the coming year. Questions? Contact Kaya Burgin, Chair, OLC’s Intellectual Freedom Committee at kburgin@westervillelibrary.org.
