OLC Offers Adult Mental Health First Aid Training Course

Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, the OLC’s Adult Mental Health First Aid Training course will help you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance abuse-related crisis. Held May 11 in Chillicothe, this one-day workshop will cover the risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help.

Dr. Cindy Boyd is the Substance Abuse and Mental Illness Court Coordinator for the Hopewell Health Centers in Athens, Ohio. She will discuss the prevalence of mental illness and substance-abuse in the U.S. and its affect on libraries across Ohio. Dr. Boyd is a Certified Adult Mental Health First Aid Trainer.

All attendees who complete the eight-hour training will earn a certification in Adult Mental Health First Aid. Please note: enrollment is limited to 30 participants for each workshop. Learn more and register.
