Privacy Statement

Summary

The Ohio Library Council works to ensure the confidentiality of all membership and financial information of its members. No one, except the OLC staff and its information technology consultant, can access member information.

Under no circumstances will the OLC release any of your personal information to any person or company unless ordered by a court of law. We use state-of-the-art technology to ensure that your information can be stored and retrieved securely and safely.

Member Information

The OLC has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to your privacy. We regard our relationship with our members as privileged relationship. We understand the importance of maintaining strict controls on personal and financial information.

Apart from the membership information maintained by the OLC, we use your IP address for system administration such as help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer our Web site and to report aggregate information to our advertisers.

How does the OLC use cookies?

Our site uses cookies to identify you and generate your personalized welcome page. The cookie is set only when you login and select Remember my password.

Other uses of the cookie by the OLC are:

  1. To estimate our audience size. Each browser accessing the OLC Web site is given a unique cookie which is then used to determine the extent of repeat usage, usage by a registered user versus by an unregistered user, and to help target information based on user interests and behavior.
  2. To measure certain traffic patterns, which areas of the OLC Web site you have visited, and your visiting patterns in the aggregate. We use this research to understand how our users’ habits are similar or different from one another so that we can make each visit to the OLC Web site a better one. We may use this information to better create the content that you and other users will see on our sites.

How is the information that is collected used?

The OLC’s primary goal in collecting personal information is to provide you, the user, with a quality membership experience. We communicate with members via e-mail in the form of news, upcoming events, new services, and solicit opinions in the form of surveys.

The OLC’s research on our members’ demographics, interests, and activities help us better understand and serve our members. This research is compiled and analyzed on an aggregated basis and may be shared with our divisions and committees. 

How does the OLC protect my financial information?

Keeping your personal information private is important. This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. We use Authorize.net secure server for credit card transactions. 

Notification of Changes

If changes are made to our privacy policy, they will be posted on this page. Regardless of later updates, the OLC will not use the information you submit under this current policy in a new way without first providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prevent that use.
