Purpose and Objectives
The Library Education Committee exists to support OLC's educational programs through research into areas such as core competencies and trends in the delivery of education, and to recommend the development of programs focused on emerging topics of interest and concern to the library community.
Goal 1: Help promote the OLC library certification program.
Objective 1: Send committee representatives to new director training sessions and Expo
Objective 2: Make recommendations to OLC staff for content of online tracking form
Objective 3: Design and recommend promotional materials (flyers, email blasts, YouTube videos)
Objective 4: Maintain a table at all OLC Chapter conferences
Goal 2: To coordinate with various groups (State Library of Ohio, OLC Committees, Regional Library Systems) in promoting statewide continuing education events and soliciting ideas for training ideas and delivery methods, to avoid duplicating effort.
Objective 1: Promote committee work (e.g., Core Competencies, Public Library Standards documents)
Objective 2 : Become aware of statewide continuing education opportunities in order to better promote these among the OLC membership
Goal 3: Update, expand and maintain the Committee's web page.
Objective 1: Check the accuracy of members' terms.
Objective 2: Review resources and publications information; add a link to statewide CE events list; additional meeting needed?
Objective 3: Discuss new content areas (links to strategic plan, certification program; additional headings; announcements; suggestions for members)
